About SOCSMG - Department of Clinical Research

South Orange County Surgical Medical Group - Department of Clinical Research is a research center dedicated to performing Phase I-IV clinical trials.

Since 2000, the staff at SOCSMG has successfully completed over 50 clinical trials funded by pharmaceutical companies, the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG), and the National Cancer Institute.

The mission at SOCSMG is to provide state of the art medical capabilities that will guarantee our clients receive the highest level of quality clinical trial possible. SOCSMG serves to:
  • Build a multilateral, collaborative network based on shared principles of respect and commitment to improve patient management through quality clinical research
  • Conduct protocol based multi-specialty and multi-institutional studies in accordance with ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Enhance the clinical research capacity through scientific training, leadership, management, conduct, administration, and oversight of studies
  • Provide feedback regarding specific clinical studies, their development, implementation and outcomes
  • Enhance accrual and retention of trial participants
  • Give clinical trial participants necessary advocacy by insuring privacy and confidentiality
  • Forge a viable partnership that will lead to improved knowledge of acute and chronic disease
  • Promote ethical research purposes and practices.
Experience

For more than 10 years, SOCSMG has been dedicated to assisting pharmaceutical companies, the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG), and the National Cancer Institute in finding new cures for both acute and chronic disease. We are committed to being at the forefront of medicine by providing cutting edge therapies to assist patients in the management of their current medical conditions and the medical conditions patients may carry with them for a lifetime.

The seven surgeons of SOCSMG have a combined 50 years of research experience and are all active investigators in our clinical trials. SOCSMG has offices in Laguna Hills and San Clemente, CA and access to a very diverse patient population in South Orange County, CA.

SOCSMG is staffed with over fifteen employees dedicated to the management of clinical research patients. We have four full-time Clinical Research Coordinators, five full-time registered nurses, four medical assistants, full time nurse practitioner and physician's assistant. Additionally, we have access to many other medical professionals (specialty sub-investigator physicians in endocrinology, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, dermatology, neurology, pain management, anesthesiology, gastroenterology, urology, etc.).

In the past nine years our staff has successfully completed studies in the following indications: post-operative pain, post-operative nausea and vomiting, chronic pain, postoperative ileus prevention, prevention of chronic constipation, opioid induced constipation, anesthesia management, chronic anemia, cancer related anemia, breast cancer, women's health, movement disorders, Parkinson's disease, PHN (Shingles), migraines, diabetes (Type I and II), insomnia, coronary artery disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, hypogonadism, etc.
